Lino Printing Christmas Cards
November 29 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Create your own Christmas cards on our festive themed card printing workshop. You’ll carve your own lino printing block and learn how to use the inks, tools and equipment to make lino printed cards. Perfect to send your friends and family a unique handmade card this Christmas!
What experience do I need?
This is an introduction to the lino printing technique. The workshop is aimed at complete beginners, no experience is necessary.
What will I make?
You will produce an edition of at least 10-15 hand printed Christmas cards and will take these away along with envelopes. You’ll also be able to take your carved lino piece away with you to continue printing with at home if you wish.
Who is my tutor?
Susie Rumsby is a Printmaking Instructor at Leeds Arts University, where she introduces students to screen print, etching, linocut, monoprint and bookbinding. Before coming to teach art in Leeds, Susie studied printmaking in Portland, Oregon, where she also worked as a master printer’s apprentice, an artists’ assistant, and at Portland Art Museum helping to put on shows of prints and drawings. Susie is a founding committee member of Leeds Print Workshop, and believes in making the fun of printmaking open to as many people as possible.
Do I need to bring anything?
All materials and equipment will be provided, this will include lino, inks, carving tools and card to print on. If you have any of your own card or paper you’d like to print on feel free to bring this along.
If I can’t attend can I get a refund?
We will refund you in full if you cancel no less than 14 days before the start of the course, after which no refunds will be issued. Once booked, you cannot transfer to another course.
What if the course is cancelled?
We reserve the right to cancel the course for any reason (for example, insufficient bookings or adverse weather conditions). We will endeavour to give at least 7 days notice if the course is cancelled and in the event of cancellation we will, of course, issue you a full refund.
Our aim is to bring printmaking to as many people as possible but, due to the nature of the building, Leeds Print Workshop is not wheelchair accessible. There is a step up into the building and four steps down to the toilets, and no accessible toilet facilities. Should you have any questions, or wish to discuss accessibility before booking, please don’t hesitate to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note, we regret that, for safety reasons, only those over the age of 16 will be permitted to undertake the course.
