I am a keen Mountaineer and Hill Walker, spending many days out in our upland and mountainous regions of the UK and briefly The Alps.
My work is informed by” The Sunlime” and I spend as much time as possible in The places visited by JMW Turner the English Landscape painter of the 1800’s .
This means I visit Yorkshire and Teesdale, places like High Force, or Swaledale.
The relationship the human race has with Landscape over the centuries both fascinates and concerns me, what we do to and in the landscape both good and not so good.
Obviously this past year 2020 has flagged up major concerns not just within National Parks but all over the UK, my dog Tatty a tough mountain going twelve year old Boarder Terrier accompines me to the mountains, camping out In remote places winter and summer, taking only images, and painting and leaving no trace of our passing.
Tatty features in many of my images as do people, some tiny.
How we use the landscape for recreational purposes is of interest, particularly.
I record peoples activities.
I have a B.A.Hons in Fine Art and I teach watercolour at The Witham Hall Barnard Castle.
Most of all I like the peace of remote places.
