Emma Frost is a landscape artist working in acrylic paint. She creates scenes that depict the world around her living on the outskirts of York, North Yorkshire. Work is nearly entirely created using palette knives, incorporating some large brush work.
Emma grew up in Northamptonshire and has lived in Germany and Amsterdam before finally settling in York in 2007. The combination of urban and rural can be seen in all of her work and she strives to present this contrast of the manmade environment with the natural world to allow the viewer to decide for themselves whether the manmade aspects are a positive or negative addition.
Emma is currently exploring the constant presence of power lines / structures in her daily life resulting in a body of work showcasing pylons, telegrah poles etc. She believes these structures have become so omnipresent that the majority of the population no longer notice their presence or contemplate whether the structures are enhancing their environment.
