I have recently started creating work again after a creative hiatus. Arts and crafts has been a lifelong passion of mine and I have often found creating an image or sculpture to be a fantastic outlook for expression.
I have studied Fine Art at De Montfort University. This was a huge learning curve when it came to actioning and contextualising your working practice and how I would set out as an artist. A lot of my practice at this time involved sculptural forms which often compared geometric and organic forms. This work informs my current practice.
My current practice is focused on organic forms and I often use botanical still life as my inspiration. Oil paint is my medium of choice, however I often experiment with acrylic paint as well as pencil and charcoal. The blending quality of the oil allows for more expressive texture and dimension to the pieces. I have often worked on canvas but my current preference is primed wood.
