A little bit about Crafty Alfredo.
My name is Sheila (Alfredo who inspired the name for my business is actually one of our lurchers) and I create unique, hand crafted multi-media mosaic art from my lovely she shed in Staxton, North Yorkshire.
Until a few years ago, I worked all over the world in engineering and manufacturing but enjoyed producing stained glass as a release when I had any spare time. Happily, we then made a decision to move back home and I took a part time job, so that I could undertake more mosaic courses and start to seriously look at creating mosaic art full time.
In September I did just than and took the plunge into full time self employment – and am loving it!
Happily, I found that mosaicking and stained glass perfectly complemented each other and I now create multi-media mosaics using traditional mosaic materials, stained glass and vintage crockery.
As you look at my art, you will notice that much of my inspiration for my pieces comes from my love of sea swimming and the gorgeous landscape and nature surrounding us.
Many of my odd musings get into my mosaics and lead to quirky pieces that bring a smile or a thoughtful expression to people’s faces and, as I use so many diverse and interesting bits and bobs that I hunt down, there is always something new to see in the pieces that I create.
I find a great amount of enjoyment in working closely with my lovely customers on commissions. Also in collaborations with other artists and crafters in North Yorkshire to design and buy unique additions in glass, ceramics and resin from them that help to enhance my work.
Hopefully this gives a some insight into how my work comes into being and I really hope that you enjoy seeing my art.
