Emily Thomas ‘the Green City’
Catherine Corfield B.A, was born in Berkshire in 1978. She studied at University College of Northampton, where she gained a fine art degree with honours followed by a masters degree in arts management from University of Greenwich.
Catherine works from her studio and exhibits regularly across the country. She has had a series of mixed and one woman exhibitions and her work is held in public and private collections both at home and abroad.
Her work has been used for many commercial and non commercial projects and commissions such as radio logos, school murals, book covers and corporate marketing.
She now lives in Yeadon, Yorkshire with her husband and 3 children, painting full time.
“The majority of my work is bold, colourful impressionism style paintings. I use mainly acrylic on canvas but also dabble in some mixed media work including pen and ink.
My work is currently focused on natural landscape and human connection with nature.
I like my work to not only portray a scene or landscape in its obvious beauty of light, colour, and texture but to also have a narrative behind the paintings that explores nature in the physical world as well as life itself.
In today’s ever growing technological world. I find the need to step back to nature in order become inspired, self reflect, create adventures and escape from the materialized world that society has made.
With my children growing so fast my work has moved to attempting to capture moments in time and my reflect experiences in life with my family.”
