Aprille Broomhead

Hi, I’m Aprille Broomhead, I’m a printmaker and illustrator based in Sheffield. Making from my home studio, I explore low-fi printmaking and am interested in the home as a place of creativity. Working with relief, monotype, pochoir and collage to produce artwork that plays with shape and composition. I founded Scarlett and Valentine some years ago when my children where babies with an aim to create artwork for design savvy families and those with a love of colour, character and playfulness. Here you’ll find Scarlett and Valentine editions and other printmaking works that I’m exploring personally.
As a self taught printmaker I’m always learning, exploring and absorbing. I’m endlessly inspired by my local woodlands and rivers on my daily walks with my dog, Minnie. Nature puts colours together in such a fantastic way and the shape of trees, washed up bits of pottery on the river bed, wild flowers and rocks… the inspiration is all there. Fabulous!
